Make sure you avoid being repossessed

Being repossessed became the harsh reality for many homeowners in 2009. Latest research has shown that many people in the UK are spending sleepless nights worrying about job losses and repossessions.

The Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) estimations suggest that in 2009 as many as 75,000 homeowners faced being repossessed. 35,000 more than the figure in 2008.

The government backed mortgage help scheme could have helped up to 9,000 families, but wouldn't cover all the 75,000 homeowners at risk. There is a more widespread fear of repossession and many could face actual repossession. Probably many more than the government can help.
